The Function of Dry Transformer Core

In principle, the magnetic conductor of an iron core is the magnetic circuit of a dry-type transformer. It converts the electrical energy of a primary circuit into magnetic energy, and then converts its own magnetic energy into electrical energy of a secondary circuit, serving as a medium for energy conversion. Structurally, the structural components of the iron core not only make the magnetic conductor a mechanically complete structure, but also almost all the internal components of the transformer are installed on it. Equivalent to the skeleton of a transformer.

Types of iron cores for dry-type transformers

Shell type: The shell type iron core that surrounds the coil; Core type: Except for shell type, the rest are core type iron cores. Core type iron cores generally include three-phase three pillars, three-phase five pillars, and single-phase iron cores. The advantages of a heart type iron core are: a. good processability, circular coils, and easy winding. b. Good economy, fully utilize space, and save raw materials. c. Good mechanical strength. Most power transformer companies use heart type iron cores. Some special transformers use shell type iron cores, such as electric locomotive transformers.

Composition of Dry Transformer Core

The iron core is the basic component of a power dry-type transformer, consisting of iron core laminations, insulation components, iron core structural components, and iron core grounding parts.

The iron core structural components are composed of clamp foot pads, upper beams, pull plates, side beams, pressure nails, etc. The structural components ensure sufficient clamping of the laminations, forming a complete and sturdy iron core structure. Insulation components are installed between the laminations, clamps, foot pads, upper beams, side beams, tension straps, and tension plates. The grounding lead of iron core laminations and clamps is reliably grounded externally through the oil tank, and multiple grounding points are not allowed for the iron core.

What is the normal temperature of the iron core of a dry-type transformer

When measuring the infrared temperature of a 2000KVA dry transformer, the iron core temperature is 120 degrees. May I ask how many degrees does the regulation stipulate that the iron core temperature of a dry transformer should not exceed?

This temperature is related to the heat resistance level of the equipment insulation. If it is level A, the allowable temperature rise is 60K

This temperature is not related to the iron core material, as the iron core can withstand 800 degrees Celsius. If the insulation heat resistance level of the transformer is F level, as long as the coil temperature does not exceed 155 degrees, there is no problem

Dry type transformer core temperature up to 110 degrees Celsius

Is it normal for the core temperature of my dry-type transformer to often be above 80 degrees?

The general temperature controller is set to stop the fan at 80 degrees Celsius and start the fan at 100 degrees Celsius, with an alarm at 130 degrees Celsius and a cut-off at 150 degrees Celsius
