The advantages of fluorescence fiber optic temperature measurement

Fluorescent fiber optic temperature sensors are not affected by insulation and electromagnetic interference. Fluorescent fiber optic temperature measurement uses insulation materials and utilizes optical signal transmission and sensing. During operation, there is no need to provide power to it, and both the external and sensor connections are electrically free. Therefore, when measuring the temperature of the switchgear contacts, the fluorescent fiber optic sensor will not be affected by insulation and electromagnetic interference. On the other hand, due to the fact that sensors have smaller probes, no other metal materials, and no electronic components, they have very good insulation properties, can withstand high voltage, can be used for a long time, and can be operated without maintenance. They can detect and analyze the temperature of different nodes in the switchgear in real time.

The principle of fiber optic temperature measurement in switchgear

Based on pulse control, the light source is excited and generates pulsed excitation light. Under the influence of the splitter, the total reflection phenomenon is clearly visible. The fiber is fused in the coupler, and then the excitation light is transmitted all the way to the probe position in the fiber, which can illuminate the corresponding fluorescent material and excite the fluorescent material, thus generating fluorescence. Withdrawing the incentive, the visible fluorescence afterglow signal passes through the same optical fiber, then passes through the coupler and splitter, officially entering the point conversion stage. At this stage, the signal is converted from electricity to light, officially entering the stage of signal processing. In the signal processing stage, the fluorescence afterglow signal is amplified and processed, and after filtering, it officially enters the stage of data collection and transmission. The data collection system can convert this type of signal into discrete numbers. After processing the data, based on the relationship between the temperature of the fluorescent material and the service life, the temperature details of the tested object can be obtained. The temperature data of each node in the switchgear is transmitted wirelessly to the monitoring room and ultimately displayed on the wireless receiving unit.
