The application of fluorescent fiber optic temperature sensors in the field of smart grids:
1. Temperature monitoring of power transformer windings;
2. Fiber optic temperature measurement for high-voltage switchgear
It can measure the temperature at the junction of the plum blossom contact and the static contact in the switchgear, and even bury it in the conductive connection of the insulation cylinder;
3. Temperature measurement of high-voltage circuit breaker arc extinguishing chamber
4. Temperature monitoring of stator, bearing, and end collector rings of hydroelectric generators;
5. Direct monitoring of hot spot temperatures in high-voltage equipment such as motor/transformer windings;
7. Real time online monitoring of temperature for other electrical equipment.
In many special environments where traditional temperature sensors such as PT100 cannot measure temperature accurately, it may not be possible to measure the temperature of objects accurately. However, fluorescent fiber optic temperature sensors are popular among many switchgear temperature measurement manufacturers due to their good insulation, immunity to electromagnetic interference, compact appearance, minimal transmission loss, corrosion resistance, and convenient installation. The basic principle of a fluorescent fiber optic temperature sensor is to excite the fluorescent medium with blue purple light to generate fluorescence. The lifetime of fluorescence decreases with the increase of temperature. Therefore, temperature measurement can be achieved by detecting the lifetime of fluorescence.
Fluorescent fiber optic temperature sensor is mainly composed of a fiber optic temperature sensor based on the principle of fluorescence fiber temperature measurement, which has the advantages of simple structure, small volume, light weight, high measurement accuracy, large measurement range, strong corrosion resistance, and electromagnetic interference resistance.
Fiber optic probes have inherent safety, high-voltage insulation, and resistance to electromagnetic interference; The system operates stably and reliably without drift, and does not require calibration and verification throughout its entire lifespan; Adopting modular design, allowing for flexible networking and unlimited expansion at any time without wasting resources; Digital and analog outputs facilitate automated real-time control and data management; The probe and demodulator are compact, flexible, and easy to install and maintain.
At present, with the continuous emergence of new devices and the expansion of application fields, the performance requirements of sensors are increasing, and there is still a lot of development space. On the other hand, new materials with superior performance are constantly emerging, and sensitive materials with new characteristics provide us with new choices, making sensor design face new concepts. As a promising technology, fiber optic fluorescence temperature sensing technology is rapidly developing in China, especially in some special industries such as medical, high-voltage electrical equipment monitoring, metallurgical processing, and online temperature monitoring of aerospace equipment. Therefore, establishing a comprehensive and systematic theory of fiber optic fluorescence temperature detection is of great significance for improving the level of scientific instruments in this field in China.
